Hitting the Reset Button: Your Guide to a Caffeine Detox. Why Herbal Tea Can Be Your New Morning (or Anytime) go to

In all honesty, even though I’m a massive fan of herbal tea, there are few drinks I love more than a coffee. The aroma, the ritual of making it and the delicious rich taste and the buzz.

It’s up there.

However, after a while my, and to no surprise, one cup doesn’t satisfy me with the once did. I find myself reaching for another, and another. Going overboard and not really savouring it, enduring the bitter aftertaste until lunchtime. It’s at that point, I know a caffeine reset is always a good idea. I usually time my detox around January, and I know it’s a 'dry January' cliché, but January is a good long month, plenty of time to hit the ground running, get organised, and develop some healthy habits, right? RIGHT.

Sooo what is a caffeine reset?

In basic terms a caffeine reset is a period of time when you abstain from all caffeinated drinks and products… coffee, tea, fizz drinks, energy drinks. The ultimate goal is to reduce your tolerance to caffeine and allow your body to adjust to its absence. For me a caffeine reset is a simple coffee fast. A 30-day coffee fast to be precise.

Why try a caffeine reset?

Reasons differ, but I do it to improve my sleep quality, as caffeine can interfere. And to simply break my dependence. Others do it to reduce anxiety and the jitters.

So what are the alternatives to Coffee?

Enter the world of herbal tea, a realm rich in flavor, aroma, and unique benefits that deserve equal recognition! Coffee tastes great but herbal tea offers a wider spectrum of exploration. From the calming mint, to the fruity burst of hibiscus, each sip is an adventure. Discover new favourites like earthy dandelion, spicy ginger, or floral chamomile, all naturally caffeine-free. Plus great if if you're trying Veganuary.

The bottom line…

Coffee provides benefits of it’s own, and I’d never full abstain, but it’s easy to get carried away. So instead of being depended on being fuelled by caffeine, it’s great to explore  other options. Many even provide benefits coffee can’t, such as antioxidant-rich herbs and spices, without the jitters!

Wild Cornish Tea is definitely a tea hack to consider. Try it for the month of January and see how you go! You won't be disappointed.

As always, if you are considering doing a caffeine reset, we suggest:

  • Start slowly. Gradually taper down your intake over a few days or weeks.

  • Drink plenty of water.

  • Be patient. It takes time for your body to adjust to the absence of caffeine. Don't get discouraged if you experience withdrawal symptom. These symptoms should go away after a few days.

  • Listen to your body. Consult a doctor when in doubt.
